Flip the Script: Reframe Blame through Healthy MEdia & Technology Use
Please downlown campaign materials here.
Dear Programs and Community Partners:
This year we are promoting Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) with a campaign that aims to inspire communities on the use of healthy communication and supportive media messaging.
This is an initiative in which anyone can participate!
Flip the Script: Reframe Blame through Healthy Media and Technology Use is our driving message throughout DVAM and beyond. Together, we can infuse a positive presence in media culture by shifting the mainstream message of victim-blaming. We can shape a healthier debate around domestic violence, survivors and societal norms by naming the violence and the root causes that lead to abuse. These actions, we can also help influence personal, community and societal accountability.
Let’s also channel our voices through technologies that are used among many social networks by encouraging mindful cell phone use, respectful texting, positive social networking and other healthy technology use.
Please feel free to post our campaign posters within your communities. We hope that you can take these tools and apply them in a way that meets the needs of your communities. Feel free to download and use as you wish. If you have any questions regarding how to use any of the items please contact us at 503-230-1951.
Please join us for our Twitter Healthy Techie Summit on Thursday, October, 18 2012 at 12pm pacific time, 3pm eastern time. A flyer about the event has been uploaded for you to print or attach and share. Also, Community partner, Artist & performer, Floyd Cruse, is using music to influence healthier MEdia & relationships. Check out his website and stay tuned in for details on an upcoming music event to benefit Domestic Violence programs in Oregon. http://donthitmydaughter.com/
We want to highlight your efforts in using MEdia and technology to prevent domestic violence! Email us with your initiatives and we will proudly share them on our website, Facebook and Twitter networks.
Thanks for the work you do to promote awareness and prevention during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and throughout the year!
Working with you for a safer Oregon,
