Since 1975 we have been the only nonprofit agency in Washington County, Oregon serving specifically survivors of domestic violence. Our free and bilingual services focus on prevention (community outreach, presentations, trainings, education, library), intervention (Monika’s House Shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, group support, art/play/filial therapy), and empowerment (Survivor Empowerment Fund, advocacy, resources, referrals, safety planning).
Emergency shelter is pet-friendly (contact office for more information).
UPDATE 12/23/2014: The Boards of Directors of South Asian Women’s Empowerment Resource Alliance, Inc. (SAWERA) and of Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) are pleased to announce the merger of the two nonprofits. The merger will bring the strengths of the two organizations together: SAWERA’s deep understanding of the South Asian community in Washington County and DVRC’s expertise in providing DV services to the survivors of Oregon’s 2nd most populous and most culturally diverse county. This merger is solidly synergistic and a true win-win for the community.
South Asian individuals seeking assistance for a domestic violence issue may call the Domestic Violence Resource Center at (503) 640-5252 during regular business hours. After hours, inquiries can be made to the DVRC crisis line at (503) 469-8620 or Portland Women’s Crisis Line at (503) 235-5333.
