Sarah came to OCADSV after seven years of building community engagement in a variety of Oregon-based social justice nonprofit organizations, including work in the reproductive health field, child welfare system, and domestic violence prevention and intervention movement. She first moved to Portland in 2007 to work as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for ONABEN, A Native American Business Network, and has been committed to anti-oppression volunteer work ever since. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of TransActive Education & Advocacy. In her free time you can find her on the river paddling with a local dragon boat team or on the trail hiking the great Pacific Northwest. Sarah graduated from the University of Iowa as an English major with a concentration in writing.
As Health Systems Program Coordinator, Sarah works with advocates, public health partners, healthcare providers and other community leaders on the intersection of intimate partner violence and healthcare. She coordinates training, technical assistance and other support to help promote systems change while supporting survivors’ needs.
