Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai’i, Jonathan was first exposed to the movement to stop violence against women during his undergraduate studies at Willamette University, during which he took many courses in sociology, gender studies, ethnic studies and anthropology. He was also involved with Willamette University Men Against Violence (WUMAV), serving as a co-chair of that group for two years until his graduation. Prior to joining the Coalition staff, he worked for the Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force, providing support for the Prevention Program and coordinating the Oregon Men Against Violence initiative. Jonathan strongly believes that by challenging cultural norms that allow violence to occur, men can play a critically important role in ending all forms of oppression, including (but not limited to!) domestic and sexual violence. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys knitting, hiking and studying for his private pilot's license.
As Social Media & Events Coordinator, Jonathan is primarily responsible for planning various events and trainings across the state, managing the Coalition's website, Facebook page and Twitter account, and responding to technology-related requests for technical assistance from Coalition Member Programs. He is also the lead contact on the joint OCADSV/Oregon DHS Statewide Client Database Project.
